Progard L® - high-performance entrance protection
Using infrared optical transceivers Progard L creates an intermeshing web of light beams providing continuous protection from floor level up to 1.6 meters. If any one of the more than 100 beams in this 'light curtain' is broken, a safety trigger is instantly activated and the door re-opened.
Progard is fitted as standard on many Schindler pre-engineered elevators, with the detection strips mounted on the leading edges of the car doors so the light curtain moves dynamically - and therefore more efficiently - together with the door.
The light beams are positioned close to the area to be surveyed, providing a far more active scan as the beams converge. Progard L can also be fitted as a modernization option to any existing automatic door system.
Progard R® - entry zone radar monitoring system
Progard R is offered for use in combination with the Progard L light curtain. A small, low-powered radar transceiver is fitted above the elevator car entrance.
An invisible radar field surveys an elliptical area just in front of the car doors and extending out onto the landing. Progard R detects any person or object - such as a trolley - entering this field in the direction of the elevator and immediately re-opens a closing elevator door. The inherent sensing capabilities of Doppler-effect radar enable Progard R to recognize whether a person is walking towards the elevator..... or merely passing along the corridor.
